Geneva C. Waldrup, age 89, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at home. She was born August 15, 1920 in Tishomango, MS, the daughter of Paulie M. and Myrtle E. (Norris) Hale.
On October 23, 1937, she married William Waldrup in Burnsville, MS and he preceded her in death September 23, 1983. Geneva was a member of Ypsilanti Baptist Temple. She worked for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 1985 and helped out at the Ypsilanti Salvation Army as a cook for ten years. She loved kids, birds and squirrels.
Survivors include: four sons, William Eugene (Della) of MS, Donald of Ypsilanti, Stanley of Britton and Ricky (Cheryl) of Oxford; eight grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Faye, one brother, Paul, one sister, Reba and one great grandson, Christopher.
The family will greet friends 5-9 pm Thursday, January 7 at Stark Funeral Service. Burial will take place in Gilead Cemetery in Iuka, MS.
